I notice a flaw, when he strangled her, in the second scene he not wear the coif. Doc Emmett Brown really had it rough between '55 and '85 while Marty was gone eh. I will see this film tonight. There is no doubt this is Jack Nicholson's greatest performance. He has shown a lot of range in a lot of other pictures, but this one is the ultimate for Jack's fans. The film follows a very strong storyline based upon a well written novel.
This is also the best performances for a lot who support Jack in this film. Will Sampson's performance in this movie is remembered more than any of his other work. Louise Fletcher is pretty much the same. Scatman Caruthers is always good & did a lot of films during this period. Not sure if this is any better than his others, but it ranks pretty close.
The movie runs the viewer through a gauntlet of emotions & shows how merciless a system can be on anybody. Problem since this movie was made is that the system hasn't been fixed. If anything, the system is worse now than ever. Doesn't anybody ever learn anything valuable by watching these types of films?
Top notch, top shelf, a rare 10 rating from me.

I had a dream about this particular scene, and it made me think that MacMurphy could have waited to leave the hospital. He could have hidden the keys he stole from Mr. Turkle into his pockets or maybe even his underwear, and he could have waited until nighttime to leave the hospital. Maybe MacMurphy could have gotten one of the other patients to distract the night guard there, so that he could unlock the screen on the window and then climb out. (And yes, I know a patient escaping a mental hospital would have been wrong, but I couldn't blame MacMurphy one bit given that mean, old, nasty nurse.) If only MacMurphy weren't so daggone impulsive, Nurse Ratched wouldn't have called Mr. Washington to deal with MacMurphy and Billy Bibbit would not have been left alone and therefore would not have committed suicide. Waiting to leave the hospital also would have prevented MacMurphy from choking Nurse Ratched out, which would have also prevented him from being sedated and therefore would have prevented the Chief from killing him later. If only MacMurphy had waited to escape the hospital until a time when Nurse Ratched and those three orderly men of hers were not around, the outcome would have been a lot less catastrophic than it was. #Justmythoughts.

Institutions make everyone sick...

Just love this, so sweet, when she runs up on stage she looks like an angel flying and especially how she says And now if you'll excuse me. before she starts signing. I'm pretty sure I've never seen a more beautiful acceptance speech.

Please do Shawshank Redemption!  That is hands down my favorite movie of all time.

Funny how they added the name caption for the person everyone already knows, but not anyone else.

A difficult role for Christopher Lloyd to play.

Here's a time when the Oscars got it right. That's a pretty damn good acceptance speech too, I must admit. “Went on for months before he stopped her. Stopped her good, too” “Oh? And howd he stop her?” the doctor asks. McMurphey grins, and rubs his nose with his thumb. “Ah, uh now I cant be telling that. I keep aunt Callahans method a strict secret, ya see, in case I need to use it myself some day.” He says it right at the nurse. god I love foreshadowing.

All the nominees look pissed off.

I think the movie Taxi Driver would make a great topic for this show

Man, I remember seeing this scene for the first time and just wanting her eyes to pop out of her head. 0:58 Taber's look is priceless. Great film. I love how Netflix has brought light back to this amazing movie. Has always been one of my favorites. @Dustin Brandvold I thought I was the only one. I'd rather have a bottle in front of me. Than a frontal lobotomy. Unreal. Sadly, there are nurse Ratcheds among us. Devil's seed. To be able to fit all of that intense dialogue and expression into a 3:50  second scene is amazing.  It flows perfectly and it makes you feel that your watching a much longer segment than it really is.  I did not get into 70's cinema until about 10 years ago or so and until then I didn't know what I had been missing.  The, you are a real bitch glance, at the scenes end between RP McMurphy & Nurse Ratchet, is a great glimpse into how they will tolerate one another as the film continues, or not.

This is one of the most craziest movies i've ever watched in my life. We just finished the book and we are at the end of the movie. By FAR the best movie I have ever seen. Am I the only one who thinks it would be better if Mac didn't drop keys and that he and Chief beat the living crap out of Washington and escaped :P. I've only seen this movie once many years ago but I do wonder as Nurse Rached looks at the sorry condition of her cap. where is the Black band. has it been removed or was it never there? I hadn't noticed it that wide Black Stripe really should be on the Cap. Registered Nurses back then would wear it much in the same way a Sargent wears his stripes on a shoulder to signify rank. Big over-sight on the part of the film-makers if they missed this. not that there is any doubt about who runs this floor.

The beginning of this scene is HILARIOUS! The only thing that could make it FUNNIER would be if that cap were. I can't say it, but it's TRUE.

Here after watching the trailer for Ratched

Bronson what a badass. Simply one of the best movies ever. Oh hey Danny Devito.
